Mississippi Medicaid Waivers

Disabled Child Living at Home

  • Target Population: Children who would otherwise require care in an institution with any type of disability, including medical, developmental, intellectual, or psychiatric conditions.
  • Ages: 0-18
  • Levels of Care: Intermediate Care Facility, Nursing Facility, Hospital
  • Income Waiver: Yes, the program is based on the child's income only.  
  • Waiver Type: TEFRA

  • Description: Provides Medicaid coverage only.

  • How to Apply: Apply at your local Medicaid office. You must complete the Medicaid application, the Disabled Child Questionnaire, and the Medicaid Certification for Disabled Child Living at Home.

Independent Living

  • Target Population: Teens and adults with physical or other health disabilities.
  • Ages: 16+
  • Levels of Care: Nursing Facility
  • Income Waiver: Yes, the waiver is based on the child's income only. 
  • Waiver Type: 1915(c)
  • Spots: 5500
  • Expiration Date: 6/30/2017
  • Description from medicaid.govProvides case management, personal care attendant, FMS, environmental accessibility adaptation, specialized medical equipment and supplies, and transition assistance for aged individuals (ages 65 yrs - no max age) and physically disabled and other disabilities (ages 16-64).

PRTF

Also called MYPAC or Mississippi Youth Programs Around the Clock

The federal portion of this waiver is being phased out, with no new applicants after 2012. However, the program continues as a state-based program.

  • Ages: 0-21
  • Levels of Care: Psychiatric Hospital
  • Income Waiver: unknown 
  • Waiver Type: 1915(c) to state
  • Spots: Federal waiver is being phased out; transitioning to a state-based program
  • Expiration Date: 9/30/2017
